CORD BLOOD BANKING
Your newborn’s umbilical cord blood contains a rich source of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs). These cells have an extensive, self-renewal capacity and a unique ability to develop into all types of blood cells, making them ideal for cellular therapies. To date, cord blood stem cells are FDA-approved to treat more than 80 diseases.
ADD PLACENTAL BLOOD + CORD AND PLACENTAL TISSUE
Similar to cord blood, placental blood contains a rich population of hematopoietic stem cells. Tissues from the umbilical cord and post-partum placenta contain higher quantities of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) than bone marrow. Different from hematopoietic stem cells, MSCs have potential applications in regenerative medicine due to their ability to make and repair skeletal tissues, such as bone, cartilage, and fat.
