Before Your Baby Is Born

  • Sign up to receive your Collection Kit
  • Once you receive your Collection Kit, keep it at room temperature, and do not remove any collection materials from it
  • Read the Expectant Patient Booklet that comes with your Collection Kit

Plan-ahead tip: pack your Collection Kit with your hospital bag when you’re around 34 weeks pregnant.

Stages of Stem Cell Collection: At the hospital.

At the Hospital

  • Bring your Collection Kit to the hospital with you
  • Let the nursing staff and your healthcare provider know that you are collecting your baby’s stem cells
Stages of Stem Cell Collection: After your baby is born.

After Your Baby Is Born

  • Once your baby is born and the umbilical cord has been cut, your health care provider will collect blood from the portion of the cord attached to the placenta
  • If you are banking placental stem cells and placental tissue, the entire placenta will be collected separately and placed into a special bag

The entire collection process is performed by your own health care provider, is safe and noninvasive, and only takes about 5 minutes!
